Number Check (20 items)

The 20-item Number Check is a tool that provides a detailed assessment that helps teachers gauge whether students are developing the number and counting knowledge expected by students in Year 1. It includes questions focused on numeral identification, number sequences, skip counting, subitising, counting, addition and subtraction, including partitioning and flexible strategies, and multiplicative thinking.

Prepare by familarising yourself with the Check and supporting materials, and gather the equipment you'll need to run the Check. Conduct the Check with your individual students, analyse your students' responses and plan follow-up learning.
