Gallery Walk

Hold a Maths Eyes Gallery Walk in your class or school. Simply download and print the materials and display them on your walls. Maths Eyes posters have been sorted into Australian Curriculum strands.

Maths Eyes worksheets can be downloaded to print or to provide electronically to students. The worksheets align with the Australian Curriculum and are sorted into lower/middle primary, upper primary and lower secondary.

Go for a Maths Eyes Gallery Walk

Look through the Maths Eyes posters and select some that suit the learning outcomes of your students. The posters are sorted by strand but not by year level and have been designed to generate discussion about maths in the real world. These discussions will depend on the age and experience of your students. The posters include prompt questions to encourage students to think about any mathematical concepts that might be found in the poster. Note, there might not always be one clear ‘correct’ answer when thinking about maths in the real world.

The first viewing

Print and display your chosen Maths Eyes posters. It may be useful to number your posters.
Provide time for students to work in pairs or small groups to answer each poster’s prompt question.
Have students write their answers for each question. Depending on the age of your students, you might want to ask them to also write a statement to demonstrate their thinking.

The second viewing

Worksheets are provided for three different age brackets: lower primary, upper primary and lower secondary. Questions align to the Australian Curriculum and have been designed for use with any selection of posters. The same worksheet can be used again with a different group of posters.

Print or electronically provide the Maths Eyes Gallery Walk worksheet suitable for your students - lower/middle primary, upper primary or lower secondary.
Provide time for your students to work in pairs or small groups to answer the questions to complete the worksheet.

Consider the age and experience of your students.
