Dr Sharyn Livy, Senior Lecturer of mathematics Monash University, discusses the explicit teaching pedagogy for engaging learners through problem solving and reasoning using content-specific knowledge to foster student growth and strategies to build this skill within the classroom. This includes paying attention to in-the-moment noticing skills and the ability to analyse students’ mathematical thinking and why this is important for teachers of Maths.
